Villa Elise and the station

A villa from around 1900, home of notary E. Van Beneden. Kommandantur during the war, then a post office, café-restaurant and now a hotel.

“Villa Elise” was later called “Villa Marie-Charlotte”. These names evidently refer to the wives of the owners. The building was built in the style of around 1900. For many years notary E. Van Beneden lived there (in the photo). During the Second World War the Kommandantur moved in. Afterwards the post office was located there, later it became a café-restaurant, and today it is the “Fly Inn Hotel & Lounge”.
